People in Amami used to believe that the gods came to them from a place called "Neriyakanaya," a land of abundance far across the sea. Showcases the folk arts, group rituals in villages, and life styles of the Amami region. Describes a day in the Amami forests. A mustsee event is the Amami Firefly dance.

Amami Theater
amami theater photo The Amami Theater features the high-definition video presentation "Jewel of the Subtropics - the Story of Seas and Forests in Amami."
The Subtropical islands of Amami is bathed in the warm waters of the north Pacific "Kuroshio" current.
 The high-quality video images and surround-sound audio dramatically portrays the mysteriously unique evolution of the natural environment and the unique flora and fauna of Amami, along with images of the lives of the people who have lived alongside this natural beauty.

Portrays Amami through images projected on a nine-section multi-vision screen, along with a variety of events. A traditional home relocated from Setouchi Town and rebuilt on the site is filled with nostalgic old-time playthings. Take the quiz from Kenmun-kun to learn even more about Amami. Offers real-time information about the various islands in the Amami island chain. It will give you a lot of information that may make you unexpectedly want to go there.
